AMANDLA EduFootball e.V. and Oliver Kahn Foundation partner up to develop innovative new coaching curriculum

The 6th of June marks the start of an exciting 5-year cooperation between the Oliver Kahn Foundation and AMANDLA EduFootball e.V. The main objective of the partnership is the development of a coaching curriculum that integrates the ‘Du packst es!-Programme’ of the Oliver Kahn Foundation with AMANDLA EduFootball’s holistic programme model around ‘Fair Play Football’, ‘Life Skills’ and ‘Youth Leadership’. Once finalised, this coaching curriculum will be applied nationally and internationally.

The development of the curriculum will take place in the first 15 months of the partnership and includes the piloting of numerous curriculum components in several of AMANDLA EduFootball’s implementation sites in and around Cape Town as well as Johannesburg. After completion of the pilot phase, the coaching curriculum will be used in several other cooperations, e.g. by organisations in Germany.

In the pilot phase, the coaching curriculum will be implemented with up to 1500 children and youth on a weekly basis. It promotes and supports:

  • The development of general values and morals through sports
  • The development of life skills, targeting children of the ages 12 – 15
  • A holistic training system for coaches that enables them to successfully implement the coaching curriculum

The coaching curriculum will be developed by a group of experts consisting of staff members of AMANDLA and of the Oliver Kahn Foundation in cooperation with experts from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. Through AMANDLA’s extensive network in the sport for development sector, the development team will be supported by the expertise of organisations like the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace, the streetfootballworld network, the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the many social institutions that AMANDLA has partnered with in South Africa.

The Oliver Kahn Foundation will contribute approximately 140.000 Euros to the shared project whereas AMANDLA woll contribute approximately 160.000 Euros.

The Oliver Kahn Foundation is a charitable foundation under public law that pursues exclusively charitable objectives. The basis of the Foundation is the ‘Du packst es!’-Programme, a motivational and learning programme based on an 11-step approach used to reach one’s personal vision. Please see for further information.
